Messager

Chat, HD voice and video calls, group treasuries, surveys, events with tickets, fundraisers, in-thread payments — end-to-end encrypted.

Messager

Overview

Messager is Victoi's chat product. It is what happens when a messaging app and a money app are built as one thing instead of glued together: you and the people you talk to share a single thread that holds the words, the calls, the photos, the tickets, the plans, the splits, and the actual money.

Messager is not a payment add-on to a chat app, and not a chat tab on a finance app. It is a place where the people in your life can spend, save, plan, and decide things together — in real time, in any language, with end-to-end encryption.

Key features

Chat

  • 1:1 and group chats. Direct conversations and groups of any size.
  • Messages and money side by side. Send a payment inside the same thread as the conversation — the request, the confirmation, and the chat are one history.
  • Rich messaging. Reactions, replies, pinned messages, view-once media, voice notes, file sharing.
  • Broadcast lists. Send to many people at once without creating a group.
  • End-to-end encryption. Messages and calls are encrypted in transit.

Calls

  • HD voice and video. 1:1 and group voice and video calls in high definition.
  • End-to-end encrypted. Calls are encrypted between participants.
  • Free worldwide. Calls between Victoi users are free, anywhere in the world.

Groups

A Victoi group is a chat thread with structure. Beyond the messages and the calls, a group can run:

  • Fundraising campaigns. Pool money from the group for a specific purpose — a wedding, a funeral, a project, an emergency — with a goal, a deadline, and a transparent ledger.
  • Surveys and polls. Ask the group a question, see who voted what, and decide.
  • Events. Create an event with date, location, RSVPs, tickets, and check-in — for a party, a wedding, a launch, a meet-up. Tickets can be sold, free, or invite-only.
  • Group treasury. Every group can hold a shared treasury — a balance the group owns, that can be contributed to and drawn from under rules the group sets.
  • Jangi inside a group. Turn a trusted group into a savings circle without leaving the chat.

Travel inside chat

  • Trip plans. A travel booking can be linked to a group thread so the itinerary, photos, and cost splits live where the conversation already is.
  • Split bills. Costs paid from one wallet can be split across the people in the thread.

How it works

  1. Find or invite. Start a 1:1 or create a group. Friends already on Victoi appear immediately; those who aren't can be invited.
  2. Talk. Send messages, voice notes, photos, files. React, reply, pin.
  3. Call. Tap the call icon for voice; tap again for video. Group calls work the same way for everyone in the thread.
  4. Pay. Send money from inside the thread — to one person or to many. The payment and the conversation are the same history.
  5. Organise. Open a fundraiser, a survey, or an event from the group's actions menu. Each lives in the thread; results are visible to the group.
  6. Hold money together. Enable the group treasury for a shared balance, with rules the group agrees to.

Use cases

  • A close group of five splits dinner: one taps to pay the restaurant card, the bill is dropped into the group chat, and a one-tap split moves the right amount from each person's wallet.
  • A family group runs a fundraiser for a relative's medical bills with a goal, a deadline, and updates pinned to the top.
  • A wedding party uses an event with RSVPs and ticketing for the reception, group calls to coordinate the rehearsal, and a Jangi to save together toward the cost.
  • A founders' group runs a weekly survey on what to ship next, voice-calls in HD on Mondays, and shares a small treasury for joint expenses.
  • A travel plan for a friends' weekend lives inside one thread — flight times, hotel address, photos, splits.
  • An organiser of a community meet-up sells tickets inside an event, scans guests in with the in-app check-in screen, and runs a virtual room for people joining remotely.

FAQ

What's different about Messager compared to a normal chat app? Messager carries money. The same thread that holds the conversation holds payments, fundraisers, polls, events, group savings, and a shared treasury. There is no jumping between a chat app and a payments app.

Are my messages and calls private? Yes. Messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted in transit. The conversation is between the participants.

Can I send money inside a chat? Yes. Send to one person in a 1:1, or to several people in a group. Payments appear in the thread alongside the messages.

What is a group treasury? A shared balance the group owns. It can be contributed to by members and drawn from under rules the group agrees to — it is the same idea as a Jangi treasury, available to any group that wants one.

Can I run polls and events? Yes. Surveys (one-question polls and multi-question questionnaires) and events (with RSVPs, tickets, and check-in) can be created from inside a group.

Can I call people who aren't on Victoi? Calls between Victoi users are free worldwide. Non-Victoi users can be invited to join.

What is an event ticket? A pass to an event run inside Messager. Tickets can be free, sold, or invite-only. The organiser can check guests in from the app on the day, and remote guests can join a virtual room from the same event.

Can I run a Jangi inside a chat? Yes. A trusted group can turn itself into a Jangi — the same chat thread becomes the home of the savings circle.
